ResoNix Guardian - Automotive & Marine Sound Absorbing Pad Specifications
ResoNix Guardian is a multi-layer acoustic and thermal treatment pad designed to absorb sound, block noise, and insulate against heat in a single, easy-to-install solution. Each sheet consists of a 1 inch layer of hydrophobic melamine foam, a 1/8 inch thick 1 lb per square foot Mass Loaded Vinyl (MLV) core, a 1/4 inch base layer of hydrophobic melamine, a reinforced micro-perforated vinyl acoustic-facing, and a 4 mil thick peel-and-stick acrylic adhesive backing.
Unlike typical sound-absorbing materials that only work in specific frequency ranges or conditions, Guardian combines high-performance broadband sound absorption with low-frequency blocking and thermal insulation. The melamine foam absorbs airborne energy from both external noise and the rear wave of speakers. The MLV core blocks low-frequency pressure from entering or leaving the treated panel. The vinyl-reinforced facing boosts low-frequency absorption and protects the foam from tearing or damage. All of this is backed with a strong adhesive, allowing quick, reliable, and hardware-free installation to almost any clean metal or plastic surface.
The most common use case for Guardian is inside automotive doors, specifically behind door-mounted midbass drivers. In this role, it absorbs rear wave energy and prevents it from exciting the outer door skin, reducing resonance and distortion while improving midbass clarity and output. It is also frequently used in roofs, firewalls, subwoofer enclosures, and van conversion walls to treat large surfaces for noise, heat, and reflected sound.
Guardian also excels in marine applications, particularly under engine compartment covers, on bulkhead walls, and in generator enclosures. Its hydrophobic melamine resists moisture and humidity, while the adhesive backing makes installation simple without mechanical fasteners. The combination of absorption and blocking is especially effective at reducing both tonal engine noise and deep mechanical resonance common in marine environments.
In industrial environments, Guardian is used in and around equipment enclosures, compressor housings, electrical cabinets, and utility spaces where sound needs to be absorbed and contained. It performs reliably in harsh conditions with heat, vibration, and exposure to moisture. Guardian’s layered structure and tool-free application make it ideal for retrofitting onto loud panels or integrating into OEM equipment housings.
Even in aerospace and aviation support systems, Guardian offers a dependable solution for managing noise and thermal transfer in control rooms, ground equipment enclosures, and equipment bays. It is flame rated, non-fibrous, and lightweight, making it suitable for use in performance-critical environments that demand both results and reliability.
