Audi/VW OEM Wire Harness Tape

10 reviews

OEM VW/Audi Wire Harness Tape is available in two types: interior-grade non-woven fleece, which tears easily by hand and is perfect for stopping rattles and organizing wires, and exterior-grade woven cloth, which is scissor-cut and ideal for rugged, high-abrasion areas. Both use high-temp automotive adhesive and are the same tapes used in Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche, and other VW Auto Group vehicles.

Fleece wire harness tapes are becoming very popular in today’s world of car audio and electronics installations. Here at ResoNix, we have used all of the popular harness tapes and have never been happy. That is, until we found the source for the exact tape that is used by VW Auto Group in Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche, Lamborghini, and Bugatti vehicles. It is used to dress and protect wire harness bundles that reside on the vehicle’s interior. The problem with many of the more popular options (Tesa) is that the adhesives are known to melt and leave sticky residue that bleeds through the tape and creates a sticky mess, both from the authentic source, and the counterfeit ones on Amazon/eBay. The tape that we sell here is the very same tape that is used by Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche, Lamborghini, Bugatti, and more of the VW Auto Group brands. If you have ever worked on one of these cars, you will know that the tape in these vehicles truly is the best you can use for this application. No nasty mess after a few months’ time, looks clean and professional, and helps prevent wires from causing rattles and vibration against your interior panels.

This tape should be used to dress, protect, and provide rattle resistance for any wires used in your vehicle. This is very common to use on wire bundles in amplifier racks to make everything look neat and uniform, on wire runs throughout the car to make them blend in and look OEM, and on wire bundles that you want to wrap to prevent rattles inside of your car such as in doors, rear decks, and pillar areas. It is also popular to secure panel clips to prevent them from rattling.

Remember, every car and every application is different. This is only a list of suggestions based on our experience. What may work best for your situation may be different. It is up to you to figure out what exactly needs to be done and how this product should be used.

Audi/VW OEM Wire Harness Tape vs. Others

Others

Stays clean in heat

Tesa’s adhesive melts and oozes. Ours holds up in hot temps without getting messy.

Stays clean in heat

One of the biggest issues with popular harness tapes like Tesa is that their adhesive turns into a sticky mess when exposed to heat. In warm climates or high-temperature environments, this goo leaks through the fabric and coats your wires in a tacky film that attracts dirt and ruins the clean look of your work. Our OEM-spec tape, used by Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche, and others, was engineered to handle automotive heat without melting, bleeding through, or breaking down. Your installs stay clean, no matter the conditions.

True OEM-grade quality

The exact tape used in VW, Audi, and Porsche—not a generic or rebranded version.

True OEM-grade quality

There are a lot of fleece tapes on the market that claim to be "OEM quality," but very few are actually used by OEMs. This is the same tape found in vehicles from Volkswagen Auto Group—VW, Audi, Porsche, Lamborghini, and even Bugatti. It performs exactly as intended and was developed to meet the high durability, heat resistance, and cleanliness standards expected in modern European vehicles. This isn’t a cheap knockoff or private-label tape, it’s the real thing.

Actually works for rattles

Soft fleece construction helps kill rattles and clean up wire runs better than typical brands.

Actually works for rattles

A lot of harness tapes claim to help with rattle prevention, but few actually do it well. Our non-woven interior tape has the exact softness and density needed to cushion wires and prevent them from knocking against plastic trim panels or metal surfaces. Whether used in doors, pillars, rear decks, or amplifier racks, it helps eliminate unwanted noise while also improving aesthetics. Unlike stiffer or cheaper alternatives, it conforms well and doesn't cause fitment issues.

No fakes, no guessing

Tesa is widely counterfeited. Ours comes direct from the real OEM source.

No fakes, no guessing

If you've ever bought Tesa tape on Amazon or eBay, there’s a good chance you didn’t get the real thing. Counterfeit Tesa tape is common, and even the genuine stuff often uses the same flawed adhesive that makes a mess. We bypass all that by sourcing directly from the OEM supplier that manufactures this tape for Volkswagen Auto Group vehicles. No guesswork, no disappointments, just the tape you’d find in a factory vehicle, exactly as intended.

Best tape at the best value

"Once again ResoNix has the best value and the best product"

Truly a much better product than Tessa

"I have been using this tape for years but it is difficult to get a hold of in the states, usually requiring me to buy 20+ rolls at one time. While its nice to always have some when you need it, I am happy to have a reliable source for small quantities at nearly the same price. The extra dollar per roll you MIGHT save somewhere else wont be worth your time or braincells. Thanks for stocking this one too Nick."

Tim (5/5)

Best cloth tape I have used, PERIOD!

"The Audi/VW OEM tape was recommended by someone because it sticks well and doesn't leave a residue when removed. I had to try for myself as I hate sticky wire if I must remove tape. I also hate it when my tape doesn't stick or unravels with heat over time. I bought several rolls of this cloth tape for my build and other odds and ends around the workshop. The first thing I noticed was how well this stuff applies and conforms to what I am wrapping. It just molds to the shape and sticks well to both the surface and itself. It's actually hard to remove without a buddy tab, so I have to use buddy tabs around my Xt60 connectors or other places where the tap may have to be removed. I also like that I can simply tear the tap when applying it, it tears relatively easily. When using TESA, I always had to cut it. This is a big time saver. Heat tolerance is also superior. I use this on the wiring of my 3D printer that is in a chamber that stays pretty hot. The fake Amazon cloth tape is useless in this environment, it unravels within 24hours in a 120-degree environment. TESA 51608 will also start to unravel after a period of time and will also leave a sticky mess when the tape is replaced. I have had none of these issues when using the Audi/VW OEM cloth tape in this hot environment. I wanted to see and compare for myself. After this comparison, ResoNix Sound Solutions will be my go to source for this tape."

Stop comparing to Tessa, this is far out of its league

"I purchased this tape after using a few other brands of tesa tape and I have to say this stuff is hands down better than anything I’ve used in the past. Hats off to Resonix for providing us with quality products."
