ResoNix Lockout - Automotive & Marine Sound Absorbing Sheet Specifications
ResoNix Lockout is a lightweight, high-performance acoustic and thermal treatment pad designed to absorb sound and insulate against heat in a single, easy-to-install sheet. It consists of a 1 inch layer of hydrophobic melamine foam, faced with a reinforced micro-perforated vinyl acoustic layer, and backed with a 4 mil thick peel-and-stick acrylic adhesive.
Lockout shares much of its construction with our ResoNix Guardian product, but eliminates the Mass Loaded Vinyl and second foam layer to offer a more cost-effective solution where noise blocking is not required. It is ideal for applications where reducing airborne reflections and controlling heat transfer is the primary goal. The hydrophobic melamine foam provides broadband sound absorption, while the reinforced vinyl facing improves low-frequency performance and protects the foam during installation and long-term use. Lockout’s adhesive backing makes installation quick and clean, with no need for mechanical fasteners or messy spray adhesives.
One of the most common uses for Lockout is inside vehicle doors, particularly behind midbass drivers, where it helps absorb the speaker’s rear wave and reduce unwanted reflections within the door cavity. This helps improve midbass clarity and reduce resonance-related distortion. It is also highly effective on vehicle roof panels, van walls, and headliners, where it provides sound absorption and thermal insulation in a thin, flexible, and easy-to-install format.
Lockout is also a great choice for van conversions, RVs, and camper builds, where comfort, simplicity, and clean installation matter. Its lightweight construction and resistance to water, humidity, and heat make it perfect for use in roof panels, wall cavities, and doors without the need for complex mounting methods.
In industrial and marine applications, Lockout performs well in areas where airborne sound needs to be absorbed, heat needs to be managed, and weight or thickness is a concern. It is particularly useful in enclosures, access panels, and ceiling cavities where reflected energy and thermal control are priorities. Its peel-and-stick adhesive and reinforced surface make it durable and reliable even in environments with vibration or exposure to moisture.
