Dial In Your Car Audio Sound System With Our Remote DSP Tuning

Hey everyone, Nick Apicella of ResoNix Sound Solutions here. I’m the guy who started this whole remote DSP tuning thing, and I’m back offering this service. This is a great service for those that aren’t confident that they are getting the most out of their system from either their own tune, or even their installer’s tune. This is also great for those that may need visualization to learn to tune on their own. You will visualize a process that is predictable and simple and has been used to tune many cars successfully. This can be the groundwork to take it on yourself in the future.

Important notes

After placing an order, we will send you an email, usually within 24 hours, with more information on what is next and what you need to have ready.

Due to growing to an audience that isn’t very familiar with me, my businesses, or my schedule, and my remote DSP tuning services, I am going to make this clear right here. When you order this service, there is up to a 14-day wait until our schedules align. We are usually free most days, but our schedule can be a bit unpredictable at times. If we do not schedule a date right away, please do not panic.

We are always more than okay to receive check in emails though. Also, please note that if we schedule a date, things come up. Sometimes we have to reschedule. Please accept that we do not sit in front of the computer all day running ResoNix. Thank you.

Key Notes & Prerequisites

Please be sure to carefully read all of the below information prior to contacting us regarding this service.

How It Works

Remote dsp tuning is a very simple process. I remotely access your computer via Quick Assist, a free software that is available via the Microsoft store that is built into windows operating systems, while we are connected to your DSP. You take measurements with the files we give you while we control everything. We do all of the muting, unmuting, eq, levels, crossovers, etc. The only thing you need to do is sit in the car, hold and move the microphone as we instruct. No, we don’t do that silly, unreliable, and lackluster way of sticking it in the headrest. And you will also have to hit play/pause track on our behalf.

Once all measurements and adjustments are done, we go through verification and adjustment by ear. This is a process that we have available for download here in which we use certain tracks to verify tonality, staging, and imaging. From here make adjustments to correct acoustic anomalies that didn’t show themselves via measurement. This is the step where we verify the measurements were giving us all of the info we need. This is also where we fine-tune to your preferences.

From here, you listen to your music to quickly verify how things are working. Next, we take a break for about an hour to let your ears rest, then we come back for more listening and verification and adjustment if necessary. I also give you 6 weeks to compile your thoughts to make adjustments after having some time with it. We can dial it in to your liking with a follow-up based on your thoughts up to those two weeks.

When you place an order, we will reach out via phone (make sure you put your actual phone number in the checkout) or email and will do a quick consultation and set up a day and time to have the service performed.

What You Need For Remote DSP Tuning

  • A decent laptop that isn’t sluggish (WINDOWS IS REQUIRED, NO EXCEPTIONS). We cannot work with laptops that are slow as it just isn’t possible. Macs add a layer of difficulty and sluggishness to the process as well.
  • Good wifi where your vehicle sits. Again, we will not work with slow internet as it makes the process nearly impossible. This is typically an easy process, but slow laptops/internet make this process nearly impossible. To test this, bring your laptop into your car where it’ll be parked during the tuning session. Go to speedtest.net and run a speed test. Speeds lower than 50mb/s prove to be somewhat problematic, and lower than 30mb/s are very problematic.
  • A phone purely for communication during the process. It cannot also be used to play the measurement and verification tracks.
  • Another way to play these test files other than your phone, either a second phone, a usb stick, a iPad, etc. We will need to be on the phone the whole time while doing this, so you will need another source to play these test files from.
  • A USB measurement microphone (I recommend the MiniDSP Umik-2, or Umik-1 if on a budget). If you want the best, an Earthworks M23R and Behringer UMC202HD is what I personally use.
  • Room EQ Wizard version 5.30 or newer and Microsoft Quick Assist (available in the Microsoft app store) downloaded onto the aforementioned laptop. I’d prefer if you have REW functioning and set up before we start
  • My tuning tracks all of them installed onto a USB drive, your DAP, or a second phone to play the tracks off of while we speak on the phone. Please note, you MUST be able to use a “Track Repeat One” feature. This is MANDATORY. The main track, correlated pink noise, will need to be on repeat for 90% of the process.
  • My House Curve Files downloaded to your PC
  • A tape measure.
  • Ability to connect to your DSP from your drivers seat (preferably via USB as wireless connections tend to be problematic).
  • The ability to take the simplest of instructions and answer simple questions without telling me your life story (I hate that I have to say this, but the more we stay focused, the better and easier this process goes. I do not need to hear about your life story about how you ended up here. If I ask a question, please just answer it directly and objectively.)
  • Most importantly, an install that is ACTUALLY completed and ready to be tuned. I will be asking many questions regarding your install, and sometimes even photos before starting. If your install is not ready, I will not tune it until it is in fact ready.

Note: PLEASE make sure your microphone and tuning software setup actually works before we do this. I really cannot stress this enough. The amount of tunes I log into and something in their measurement or car audio system that doesn’t work is way too high. If you need help with instructions on this, let me know.

What Makes Our Service Different

Frankly, the level of experience. I am up to over 800 full tunes done in person, and another 300+ remote DSP tuning services completed. I am very experienced in being able to get the most out of any car audio system. I am also not like the other guys who will sit there and do the bare bones adjustments with incorrect measurements. We also have our own process where we train you to listen for certain cues by ear which is that “10 percent” that everyone always talks about and make further adjustments from there. We also allow you to request adjustments for up to 2 weeks after the initial tune is completed.

Payment Terms

We charge a base price of $500. This is for a single-seat tune. We do not offer two-seat tunes remotely.

Now to be very blunt and upfront… Yes, this may seem expensive, but we are still not the most expensive, and our process works excellently. The money you put into this service will be the most improvement per dollar you get out of your sound system. The only thing that gets you a discount for this service is if you purchase the DSP through us. This nets you $100 off of a Remote DSP Tune with us, or if you have previously used another remote tuning service and are not 100% happy with the end results.

Most of these “other guys” are previous customers of mine who watched me do a tune once and do not truly know the science behind the process of tuning a system properly. This is why you see some people who are saying “I have tried 4 other guys before I was finally happy with a remote tune”. This is exactly why. Our tuning experience and understanding of car audio systems as a whole separates us from the rest. This service will still make the largest difference and most likely still be one of the cheapest parts of your system.

This base price includes the tuning of Audiotec Fischer (Helix/Brax/Match), JL Audio, Mosconi, Arc Audio, Audison, and some other DSP's. There may be extra charges for other processors based on how difficult they make it to complete a tune, especially remotely.

Important Notes

We can also help with OEM Integration, but anything beyond something very basic is NOT a part of this service. If you are going high-level in from an OEM head unit or amplifier, we can also get your input squared away. This will cost extra if it is not a simple signal, and we may not know until it comes time to start taking measurements. I personally might know before hand just based on my experience with many vehicles, but some I may not know right away. Some OEM systems are easy to integrate into. Others are… not. I am familiar with most, so this can most likely be figured out beforehand, but you MUST let me know beforehand that there is OEM integration that needs to be sorted. If you show up to your session day-of without letting me know, I am not touching it or you are paying a separate rate for OEM Integration.

Liability: There is one major limitation to remote tuning. That is having someone experienced such as myself sitting there and listening to what is coming out of those speakers. ResoNix Sound Solutions will NOT be held liable for any blown speakers during, or after tuning. This has never once been a problem, but who knows. Gain setting of amplifiers is NOT a part of this process. The only gain settings I will be able to adjust is if you are using certain Audiotec Fischer Processors or Processed Amplifiers, and JL Audio and Arc Audio DSP Amplifiers that featuring input and output level monitors. Any other processor, gain adjustment is not a part of this service.

Heads up…

This is not a service that is applicable to those with processors that use only an App to tune the device. It needs to have a desktop software. If you do not have a processor selected and are still selecting and considering this service, I’d 100% prefer if you have an Audiotec Fischer DSP. I know that the best end results will be had with a Helix, Brax, or Match processor.

Please note that there is a maximum time limit on the process of 2.5 hours. If the installation is correct and nothing is wrong and you are truly ready, there is no chance of going over these times and you will have nothing to worry about. Any hour extra is $200/hr.

2025 G80 w/ full Helix. If you know, you know!

"For anyone on the fence considering hiring these guys to tune your system, I can't say enough about what a huge difference it made. I spent a small fortune on the equipment and having the system installed. The installer did an amazing job (super clean install) however the tune wasn't quite there. Some music sounded okay and some was lacking (not helped by the difference in lossless/high-res quality or the master source lacking) Carson did my tune and after spending a week going through my music library, there's nothing to tweak. Every different genre sounds like it should according to the original source and for the tracks with a clean source, that are digitized well, it sounds like your listening in a recording studio. I couldn't be more pleased. Carson/Nick, thanks again and great job!"

2019 Silverado

"Carson did an excellent job at Remote Tuning my 2019 Silverado, with a 3 way Front, Differential Rear Fill, and Subwoofer system. First, the pre-tuning instructions were very clear in the video and work sheets. That helps save a lot of head aches for both the Tuner and the Customer. Second, Carson's instructions on what I needed to do during the session were clear and very understandable. But, to watch him work on my computer with REW and the Helix Software was amazing. He was very efficient and showed complete understanding of the entire tuning process. Finally, my results turned out amazing. I'm hearing things in my most familiar music that I've never heard before. My sound stage sounds so much more defined and widened. I can now hear very specific Left, Center, and Right imaging. Very very happy with the Tune Carson created for me. Highly recommend this! Will be back again once I build a second system in another vehicle!"

AMAZING Remote DSP Tuning

"I was a little skeptical on how good a remote tune could be; Resonix has 100% changed my mind! The instructions to prepare for the session were very straightforward and they promptly answered all of my questions. Once we started, Carson and I realized that my right and left rear speakers were switched and he calmly worked on some other things while I removed the back seat from my truck so that I could switch the speaker wires around on the amp. We also discovered that my noise-canceling headphones were putting out some interference that the microphone was picking up. Through all this, Carson was very patient and took his time to make sure that everything was addressed and that things worked perfectly. About a week after the tune, I set up some time with Nick and we made a couple of very minor adjustments to my Composer setup. Honestly, I have never been happier with the audio setup in any of my vehicles, I didn't think they could sound this good!"

Musical Bliss

"First and foremost, I am an older audio nut who began experiencing car audio systems back in 1990. Over the years, I have had the bug to put an audio system in each an every car that I have owned. As we all get a little older, the technology along the way changes and not always for the better. In the case of DSP's, which I was not totally familiar with until around 2021, I finally took the leap and added one to my current set-up. Right out of the gate, I had a local shop not only help me with my installation, but also my initial tune. To say that I was excited was an understatement. However, after I received the car back and listening to the system for many hours, I just felt that something was lacking with the front staging. As you have probably heard Nick say before, a proper tune is a major part of any installation. It is not the only thing of course, but certainly a key ingredient. I found Nick and Resonix this past year and was excited to learn that he and his team provide a remote tuning service. I am based in the Upstate of South Carolina, so being able to do this tune remotely was of significant value to me personally. Mr. Carson Steigerwalt was the gentlemen who helped me with this new tune. To say that my system has come alive is truly an understatement. It is absolutely true that it takes talent to tune properly. Even more so when you are doing it remotely while relying on the customers ear. Folks, I am hear to say that this service is absolutely worth the price and I have already discussed a second car that will be tuned by Carson as well. You simply cannot put a price tag on sonic excellence. I could not be more happy with what I am listening too now. It has truly transformed the sound stage in my truck. Thanks Carson!"

The best decision you can make in Car Audio

"If you're looking into Resonix remote Tuning, please save yourself the time and effort and just do it. I spent months putting together a system, another month trying to learn how to tune myself and ultimately ending up with a system that I was extremely dissatisfied with. No depth, no dynamics, no alignment, it was truly awful. Within 2 hours of resonix remote tuning, I finally had the system I wanted. The difference was unbelievable. Let me tell you, it is worth every penny. Nick and carson can truly make a system sound special."

Take system to next level

"It took me 2. 5 months to deaden the doors and install 3-way components up front and coaxials in the rear of my 2020 Ram 1500, with two 10-inch subs in a sealed box in the back. I found the DSP software challenging, so I made an appointment with Nick. In just two hours, he fine-tuned the system perfectly and even gave me tips to further improve it. Nick is a skilled tuner and a genuinely nice guy. I highly recommend Nick and Resonix – I just wish I had found them sooner!"

Incredible Tune, System Changing

"As much as upgrading gear can make a difference in a system, proper tuning and feedback makes an even bigger difference, letting you get your full value out of the equipment you've bought and installed. Nick was able to look at the responses remotely and let me know I had a resonance problem in the sub region, he worked around the problem, but afterward I went back and was able to find and fix it and the responses changed. Nick will answer your questions, make sure your dsp is setup properly, and get the most out of your system!"

Car sounds amazing now

"After a month doing my own installation, I didn't have time to spend another month learning how to put a halfway-decent tune in my car. I also had a serious cabin gain issue: my midbass ran so hot at certain frequencies that I could only play my stereo at low volume. Nick fixed that, and put a great tune on my car. He was very friendly, didn't watch the clock, and took his time to answer any questions I had. Even if you want to learn to tune your own car, I'd recommend this as a learning experience. Highly recommended!"
