Micro Precision 5.8 Wideband – Pair

       The Micro Precision 5.8 is a 3.5″ wideband driver built for clean, natural sound in applications where a system needs a small midrange or fullrange driver to cover from a 200hz crossover and above. Originally developed in 2003 and refined through multiple updates, the 5.8 uses an ultra-lightweight paper cone and paper voice coil to deliver a full, open sound that reaches from 150 Hz up to 20,000 Hz with surprising clarity and output for its size.

       Thanks to its extremely low moving mass of just 2.1 grams, the 5.8 offers excellent transient response and tonal accuracy across the midrange and into the top end. The paper cone material avoids the harshness and coloration common in many small wideband drivers, making it a great fit for systems where natural reproduction is a priority. Despite its small size, it produces a full-bodied sound that integrates easily with midbass drivers in both two-way and three-way configurations. The 5.8 is optimized for free-air applications and is best used with a high-pass filter set at 200 Hz or higher, depending on power handling and application.

       With multiple improvements to the magnet system and T/S parameters over the years, including the latest update in 2021, the 5.8 remains a relevant and highly capable solution for high-performance car audio systems that need wide frequency coverage with low distortion across its entire frequency range.
